Two Voices, One Song is all about two voices, two writers, two poets, two philosophers, two friends coming together to share their passion for writing and mankind in a unique and blended song.
In essence, Meena Rose and Claudette Young created Two Voices, One Song was to house their joint collaborative writerly efforts, on-going philosophical conversations and debates, and their love of Humanity.
Seeds of Inception
By: Meena Rose
Claudette Young and I met in 2009 at the Writer’s Retreat, an online forum affiliated with the Institute for Children’s Literature. It did not take that long for either of us to become familiar with each other’s posts.
Our conversations began to drift towards philosophy, life and human nature. Claudette’s voice on those topics intrigued me and resonated deep within me. In turn, my voice had captivated her. The general feedback we got from that online forum was the need to hear our two distinct voices blended in harmony.
As life would have it, we surged forward; each of us searching for her own legs and her own path within the writerly world. In many ways, we each had to strengthen our unique voices. In addition, I needed to build my confidence that I indeed could reach for the title of Writer and wear it with pride.
Perhaps there was an element of truth to the Mayan Calendar and the year 2012. This year, we realized that our journeys had brought us to a common place; a rest stop along the road. Like long-lost friends, we found ourselves with that same insatiable need to converse, discuss, debate and write about how we saw the world around us.
Claudette posted one of the many conversations we have shared on her site, Claudsy’s Blog. Her post met with great interest from our combined reader base. A follow-up conversation ensued:
Meena Rose: Do you think now is the time to do a joint site together?
Claudette Young: There does seem an even larger interest. How would we figure out what to do with our personal sites and this joint one?
Meena Rose: Let’s take a step back and visualize what the joint site will offer and then we can sort out what happens to our personal sites.
Claudette Young: How about we guest blog for each other and see how the readers react before forming the joint site?
Meena Rose: Sounds like a plan. Let’s do it this coming Thursday.
Sure enough, that Thursday was a huge hit for both of us and a further confirmation that the time has really come to unite and publish a joint site.
