As you can see, our library is much like any other large, book-filled space. Plush, pillow-cushioned leather chairs are mandatory to every good library, you know. Of course, let us not forget about the lighting and the sense of coziness as you bond with the printed page under your fingers. Please come and take a look around.
This is where Meena and I have our discussions of philosophy and many things intellectual. We’re never sure exactly what the topic will be on a given day. And we don’t get to spend time here as often as we’d like. We’re hoping to remedy the frequency problem as soon as we can.
You’ve noticed that each room, excluding the garage, has its own books. I suspect being bibliophiles requires our placement of them in the rooms where they’ll be used the most. We house the larger tomes and the classics in here, along with those books in languages other than English.
The Greek and Ancient Roman volumes are kept together, mainly due to their closeness in chronology and mythology. They are translated volumes, in case you’re wondering. The Arab and Arab influenced volumes of philosophy and poetry are together in this corner with the smaller reading nook. I don’t read Arabic. That’s Meena’s bailiwick and she usually reads them there so that they don’t get misplaced.
All volumes of a theological persuasion are kept here by the fireplace. Most of those are Meena’s. She studied the subject for many years and has a thorough grasp of it. I studied ancient theology back in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s. I do try to keep up on many aspects of it, though, and the subject comes up often between us.
The art books are here in their nook. We both love art of all forms. Feel free to take a peek whenever you like.
The large reading table often has volumes scattered on it when we’re doing other research or working on a project. We’d appreciate it if you’d look but not touch our arrangement of books on the table. Moving things clouds the issue for me for some reason.
There’s always a note pad in any of our work areas. If you have a question about something, please leave us a note and we’ll get an answer for you as quickly as possible. If you just want to comment on what we’re working on, go right ahead. We’re always glad to get feedback on our efforts.
And now you’ve seen our literary sanctum. Don’t be put off by it. We like to share.
