I know I’ve been absent on this blog. I’ve had a few things going on around here that didn’t allow much time for blogging, but they’re rapidly being put in good order and things can get back to semi-organized condition.
Rejuvenation is taking place. Yes, you heard that right. Things are going through a period of adjustment as rejuvenation begins.
How so? You ask. Well, it has to do with professional productivity.
This is the situation. Life handed out more lemons than chocolate cake this year and getting submissions out to markets didn’t go as planned. Therefore, I was left feeling decidedly un-professional.
With the end of August rushing up to greet me, I’ve put stories through the washer and rinse cycle and hung them out to dry. I’ve dusted off old manuscripts that hadn’t seen the light of day in more years than high schoolers have counted. And, I’ve devised a plan to get the most out of everything I already have on paper or disc.
During the week of the 26th, I’ll be launching my new Author’s Website. Not to be confused with this one. This one will remain intact and totally separate from my new personal one. On that site will be a column about writing and what I’m doing, plus recommendations for other blogs, sites, books etc.
I’ll also have bits and pieces of WIPs (works in progress) for readers to comment on, giving me their take on what’s there, confusion caused by the style, and anything else they wish to let fly with. One page will be dedicated to books, stories, poems, and other items that are on the market, with links to each of them, for those who’d care to check them out.
Along the way, I’ll be able to tell readers about new book and story launches that will be coming along in future.
I have to admit that excitement is building for me. Yes, I have this site, which I thoroughly enjoy. And I have my author’s page on Facebook, and my Google+ circles, LinkedIn forums groups and friends, along with all the other media like Twitter where I’m @Claudsy1.
Once this new site is up, though, I’ll be able to really talk writing and all that entails. That’s the fun part.
I hope all of you will investigate the new site when it’s up and running. I will announce the actual opening date soon for that.
The other thing that I’m excited about is my new small writer’s booklet titled “How-To Slay a Writer’s Dragon: or, Poor Richard’s Twisted Sister.” It will be out on Kindle next week, as well. It’s the first in a short series of booklets that cover a wide range of problems that writers must tackle to produce the best stories they possibly can. In each booklet are exercises for the user with which to practice executing the lesson given. Each of the exercises is fun, short, and usable multiple times. Also, it’s hoped that viable story content is generated through use of each one of them.
As soon as this first “Dragon book” is launched, I’ll be working on the finishing touches of a short collection of flash fiction for Kindle Singles to come out in early September.
I told you that rejuvenation was underway. Here’s the proof. And there you have my news for the week. I’ll meet you all here again as soon as I have a launch date for each of these new little adventures.
