NaPoWriMo 2013: Day 1

napofeature2

And so it begins – 30 days and nights of wild poetic abandon. This year, just like last year, I will be participating in both the NaPoWriMo and Poetic Asides daily poetry prompts.

I am kicking off the 2013 April PAD season with this first offering for the NaPoWriMo prompt. The objective is to take the first line of a poem and make it the first line of ours.

Reality Bites

By: Meena Rose

She walks in beauty, like the night
Daring me to come closer;

Like a moth drawn to the flame,
My feet move of their own volition;

Each step drawing me closer to a
Brush with the ineveitable;

There she stands, shimmering and glimmering,
Seductress, enchantress, warrior princess;

With resignation, I shake my head dissolving
An illusion, a mirage – that which cannot be;

I am me and will never be she -
I human; she goddess.

  1. Love it, Meena. You’ve started out strong; not that I expected anything less from you. We’re off and running. Okay, so you may be sliding while I run. I still think goddess may be close to a good fit. :)
